Pitch for Purpose
Pitch for Purpose is a small community of social impact entrepreneurs. I was invited to give a presentation and run a workshop on the topic “Why UX is Essential in Product Creation”.
I gave a general overview of UX that was concise and simple enough for those unfamiliar to the field to understand, along with relatable everyday examples.
To give participants a hands-on design experience, I designed a short activity that involved ideation and affinity diagram clustering.
The feedback I received from participants and organisers was overwhelmingly positive, and I was invited to give more extensive workshops at their events in the future.
Ladies that UX
Ladies that UX's annual mentorship volunteer program is a structured initiative designed to connect experienced UX professionals with those seeking guidance and growth in the field.
As a mentor I was assigned 2 mentees who had unique goals and skills. I arranged regular meetings with them to help them with portfolio tailoring and coach them through job hunting and networking in the Netherlands. I provided them with a personalised feedback sheet with general career tips as well as networking advice and resources.
Vibe-a-thon
I participated in Adevinta’s annual voluntary hackathon with the goal of improving our marketplace’s “vibrancy” by increasing the number and variety of ads created.
Many participants were not feeling motivated due to external circumstances in the organisation, so I took charge planning meetings and helping to facilitate team brainstorming workshops to get us moving.
I brought my years of ecommerce experience as well as my knowledge of the professional sellers’ domain. In the end we presented an idea we were all proud of and received encouraging feedback from many people afterwards.
